Art Summaries

Jesus Christ and Gothic Art

Jesus christ is a god that christians believe in as someone they worship. Jesus Christ is the son of God, he wanted people to follow and worship him as a righteous way of living. His life started by being born to the Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ life ended by giving his life for our sins.
Gothic Art is based of of cathedrals that tell a story about history. Gothic art can be expressed through stained glassed windows, statues and sculptures. Gothic art can also be expressed by buildings architecture such as pointed arches.

Greece

Greek art is known for their sculptures and contrapposto (balance). Greek art has four major points with their art, they are

  • Naked
  • Free Standing (No support)
  • Idealized Body
  • Contrapposto (balance of the sculpture, with the stone.)
The main similarities are

  • Archaic smile
  • stone structure 
  • post and lintel 
  • figure (human form)
Another main form of Greek art is their orders

  • Doric
  • Ionic
  • Corinthimus 
Renaissance Art

Renaissance art is the time period of 14th century to European Art. Renaissance art influenced alot of painters and artists to show their work based off their feelings. Artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michael Angelo, Raphel, and Jan Van Eyck. These artists were very popular during this time period, they painted portraits, made sculptures and even abstract art.

Modern and Indian Art

Modern art is known for art in the Americas, where its basically art that artists made based on the american culture. Art of the america is different from any other countries art. Art of the americas like to focus on one thing when their designing art but america focuses on anything, like their emotions, and or their fashion sense.
Indian art focuses on hindu and buddhism, the two main religions in that country. Hinduism has two main points shiva which is the god of dance and darshan which is the "seeing" god. Buddhism focuses on three main points aniconism, rituals and teachings.
